I am confused what to do after arriving at the UK University Post Graduate Study Admission late From Nigeria. I was granted a visa on the 9th of October for my Post Graduate study and I travelled and arrived in the UK on the 11th October. My fees fully paid for the University year. But on arriving at the University, I was told that admissions has since closed, and that they will defer my admission to January, meanwhile, I was asked to return home and re-apply for the January intake. I am so confused.
Furthermore, the cost of returning home to re-submit and wait on an application queue which could take up to 3 months is not a viable option for me as I fear again I may be issued a visa out of time.
So, I want to ask here, Is there a way to process an application to remain in the UK until January when I can re register and have my Student’s Visa extended to cover the duration of my study? and does anyone have such experience before, what did you do? also are there any possible options besides having to return to my country?
Any help will be appreciated.
Response – What To Do After Arriving At The UK University Post Graduate Study Admission Late From Nigeria
Apparently I think this is a case of lack of communication between the student and the University. Many students that are coming to the UK are first time travellers and don’t make these assumptions.
I am sure you might have received a schedule for your programme, including start date, deadline for enrolments, etc. If you were aware that you will not receive your visa on time, it is your responsibility to phone or email to inform the University, and then they would be able to advise on what to do. I think it’s a matter of common sense.
Moreover, this simple action could have prevented all this loss of money, time, etc. Now that this has happened you will have to return to your Country Nigeria to reapply immediately for January intake. There is no other way.
In conclusion, is there anyone out there with similar problem, and is been sorted, please share with us how it was sorted. And if anyone out there have anything to contribute to this please send in your comment. Thank you for reading.
