Rwanda is officially known as the republic of Rwanda. Its capital is  Kigali which is arguably the cleanest city in Africa. Rwanda is a landlocked country situated in the great rift valley of the great African lake and where East Africa converge.  There are various Tourist Attractions in Rwanda you should visit and we have listed them below.

Volcanoes National Park

The Volcanoes National Park is one of the best Tourist Attractions you should visit in Rwanda. It is located at the northern part of Rwanda and made up Volcanic mountainsand rainforest. The National Park is about 160km2 in Area with five mountains.

The best sites you can visit in this Volcanoes National Park are the five mountains namely; Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo.

Kigali Genocide Memorial

After the Rwanda Genocide in 1994, the memorial ground was made as a remembrance of the people who died during the mass murder. The genocide was between the Tutsis the victim and the Hutsus. It was recorded that about 250,000 people died in the genocide but the number can not be ascertain.However, it was gathered that allegedly 500,000 to over a million people died.

The Kigali Genocide Memorial park has a visitors area that is opened to tourist and students who wants to understand the true nature of the event.

Nyungwe Forest National Park

This is a Mountainous rain forest very close to the Burundi border. This place is home to many wild animals such as Chimpanzees, Apes, pythons and many more. The beauty of this park is its Canopy walk-way,  Igishigishigi Trail, is a high suspension bridge with views over the valley and surrounding forests.

King’s Palace Museum


In olden times, Nyanza was the heart of Rwanda. According to oral tradition, it was the site of battles and power struggles. For a long time, the monarchy was mobile, moving the court between various locations. When it eventually settled in one place, Nyanza was the obvious choice. The capital of the kingdom had as many as 2,000 inhabitants, and huts built with the same methods as seen here.

Akagera National Park


The Akaragara National park is one that is also close to Tanzania and share border. The park is home to Zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions and hundreds of bird species. You can as well find animals such as crocodiles, Hippos and so on.

Lake Kivu

This great lake lies in the border of the republic of Congo and Rwanda. It is a center for Tourist Attraction and where anyone should visit.  It is surrounded by mountains and it is of green waters.It is Rwanda’s largest lake and sixth largest in Africa. Along the lake, is a beach resort with hillsides covered in pines and eucalyptus serve as a backdrop to the sparkling lake.

LAke Kivu is also a place for fisher men at dusk!

Ethnographic Museum

Looking to know about the cultural history of the people of Rwanda, then the Ethnographic Museum is a place to visit.The Museum was formerly called that National Museum.

The Ethnographic museum was built with the assistance of the Belgian government in 1989.It is located in Butare and happens to be flooded by locals of Rwanda and foreigners.

Gorilla Guardians Village

The Gorrilla Guardians village is located in the volcanoes region of Rwanda. Before the Genocide in 1994, the people of Rwanda used to poach animals for competion and combat. After the genocide, the country turned itself around and preservation of wildlife was part of it.

Visiting the Gorilla Guardians village, you are taken by the villagers to see the various part of the wildlife.
