Europe is the 3rd largest continent in the world in terms of population. The continent which located entirely in the northern hemisphere and mostly in the eastern hemisphere has a land area of  10,180,000 km2 (3,930,000 sq mi). This making Europe the 2nd smallest continent in the world. The continent is made of 50 Sovereign states and 6 of them without recognition. We will be looking at the cities in Europe with the highest population.

Furthermore, Europe makes up just 12% of the entire world population of about 7 billion people.The Total population of Europe is about 746.4 million inhabitants.  The countries responsible mostly for the population are Russia, Germany and Turkey. This makes cities such as Moscow, Istanbul, London, Saint Petersburg, Berlin, Madrid,etc appear on the list.

In addition, the city with the highest population in Europe Istanbul which is the capital of Turkey, following closely is Moscow which as also the capital of Russia. There are also cities in Europe with high population such as LOndon on the thrid spot while Bucharest in Romania.

It is noteworthy to know that European countries highly on the countries with a high life expectancy in the world. In addition, the continent of Europe also boast of countries with the happiest citizens and friendliness.
